Bonnie C. Matthews, 95, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Highland Home. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 11 at Lakewood Funeral Home from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with funeral services to follow in the chapel. Steve Parten of Pinelake Church will be officiating. Bonnie was born on September 21, 1925 in Magee, MS. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. Everyone who knew Bonnie loved her and felt loved by her. She had a great sense of humor and was a very classy lady. Bonnie always put her family first. She will be missed by so many who love her dearly. Her family has great peace knowing that she is in the arms of Jesus.
Bonnie took special joy in cooking and entertaining her friends and family. She also enjoyed quiet time reading her Bible and having her daily cup of coffee. Bonnie also loved bowling and playing Canasta with her friends.
Bonnie is preceded in death by her loving husband of 71 years, Jack. She is also preceded in death by her siblings, Spurgeon Craft, Harrison Craft, Charlie Craft, Ollie Kennedy, Elcenia Gates, Luella Morrow, and Mary Matthews; her stepson, Jack Jr., of Medford Lakes, New Jersey and son-in-law, Sal Tramuta of Slidell, LA.
She is survived by her children, Percy "Buddy" and Doris Matthews of Brandon, Ms, Danny and Gail Matthews of Brandon, Ms, Joan Tramuta of Slidell, LA and Missy and Harvey Green, II of Madison, Ms. Bonnie has 11 wonderful grandchildren; Brian and Kerri Matthews, Brad Matthews, Karin and Trent Hebert, Drew Matthews, Mary Ellen and Sam Lea, Austin Green, Luke Green, Beau Green, Steve Tramuta, Tara and Jairo Estrada, and Suzanne and Ricky Miller; and 11 adorable great-grandchildren; Eliza, Clara, Layton, Jack, Anelise, Tyler, Justin, Saira, Matteo, Darian and Ethan. She is also survived by her beloved canine companion, Winchester AKA Weenie.
