Bobby Lee Smith, 81, passed away February 15, 2016 at his home in Milton, FL from cancer. He was born and raised in Jackson, MS, graduating in 1953 from Central High School where he participated in ROTC and football.
Bobby served his Country in the United States Army as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he proudly served with the Airborne Long Range Patrol F Company, 51st Infantry. He retired after 22 years of service. He also retired from the U.S. Postal service in Eupora and Brandon, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jewel Whitehead and James Patrick Smith, Sr.; wife, Benita, and siblings, Pat Smith, Jr. and Judy Kaye Jones. His survivors include his children, Cathy (Gene) Graham, Jimi (Leitha) Smith, Ted (Starr) Smith and Dr. Nancy Smith; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Puddin (Glen) Noble and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Blvd, Jackson, MS on Saturday, February 20th from 10:00 AM to 12:00PM, with graveside services beginning at 12:30 PM in Lakewood Memorial Park.
