Billie Lynn Richardson Arthur, age 99, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 18, 2025. The family will receive guests on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Lakewood Memorial Funeral Home at 6000 Clinton Blvd, Jackson, Mississippi, from 1:00pm until 3:00pm with funeral services beginning at 3:00pm in the chapel. Entombment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, Mississippi.
Mrs. Arthur was a graduate of Blue Mountain Christian University (Blue Mountain College) in Blue Mountain, Mississippi, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. She preceded to work at the Mississippi School for the Blind until she retired. Upon retirement, she took upon the title of Mamaw and devoted time to her two grandchildren. She and her husband, Lamar, enjoyed traveling and were able to visit all 50 states in their retirement. She was an avid card player and spent time each week with her Bridge Club.
Mrs. Arthur was a devoted member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton, Mississippi. She served on various committees and served as a Sunday School Teacher. At the time of her death, she was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Lamar E. Arthur; her son, Jimmy Arthur; her parents Bill and Geneva Richardson, and her sister Mary Jean Reddick.
She is survived by her loving son, Bill Arthur of Brandon, her two grandchildren, Jennifer Ard (Josh) of Clinton, and Andrew Arthur (Madeline) of Raymond. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Kim Arthur Trigg of Raymond and four great-grandchildren, Riley, Charlee, Bowen, and Molly Kate. Additionally, she is survived by her niece Devorah Hollinger (Chuck) of Palm Bay, Florida.
