Barbara Ann Bradley Thames is walking the streets of Heaven. She was born in Jackson, MS, November 30, 1939, to Duard Bogan Setzler and John Clinton Bradley, Sr. She attended Forest Hill through sixth grade and graduated from Clinton High School. She completed a business program at Draughn's Business College as well.
In 1957, she met her husband, Tommy D. Thames, Sr. of 64 years at the Van Winkle Putt Putt Golf Course and it was love at first sight. They married April 22, 1960, and began their life together building their home and family. She was an excellent cook and grew the most beautiful flowers you would ever see. She enjoyed cross-stitching and decorating her home. She was actively involved in the American Legion Women's Auxiliary for many years. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, Southern gospel music, canning the most delicious, sweet pickles and working the family's honeybees. Raising her two sons, Tommy and Ray, brought her profound joy. Whether watching them ride their dirt bikes or fishing and hunting, her family was her priority. As her sons grew up and began to start families of their own, she welcomed her two daughters-in-law, Brenda and Michele, to the family. Her love was often expressed by preparing delicious home-cooked meals and ensuring everyone had plenty of Christmas presents to open each year. In 1992, her first grandchild, Ryan, was born. Being a grandparent began a new life season that brought her joy. Soon to follow, in 1993 and 1994 her granddaughters, Heather and Ragan were born. Gathering her three grandchildren while camping provided many years of enjoyment while she adored them. Most recently, in 2017 her first great grandchild, Emersyn, was born and then to follow, in 2020, her first great grandson, Clayton. These two always brought a beautiful smile to her face.
Her husband cared for her each and every day of their life together and he was always by her side. She was surrounded by her entire family when her spirit left her body, and she met her Lord and Savior face to face. Oh, what a glorious meeting that was.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Duard Bradley as well as her brothers, John C. Bradley Jr. and Raymond I. Bradley. She is survived by her husband, Tommy D. Thames Sr., son, Tommy D. Thames, Jr. and wife Brenda Thames of Terry; son Ray E. Thames and wife Michele Thames of Florence; five grandchildren, Ryan Thames and wife Brooklyn of Sylvarena, Heather Holifield and husband Brandon of Florence, and Ragan Thames of Crystal Springs, two great grandchildren Emersyn Holifield and Clayton Gardner.
