Austin Gordon Thomas

Austin Thomas, 16, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, alongside his best friend, Tanner Gardo. Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Friday, May 6, 2016, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1301 Pinehaven Rd., Clinton, MS, at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Austin was a junior at Central Hinds Academy where he was an honor student and ran track. He was a member of the 4-H shooting team in which he recently qualified for state competition in both pistol and rifle. Austin was a priest in the Aaronic priesthood in his church. He had a passion for hunting, working on and riding 4-wheelers, and loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Wilmer and Florrie Thomas; maternal grandfather, Frank Gardner; and uncle, Timothy Thomas.

He is survived by his parents, Don and Kathy Thomas; sister, Cristina Hartner (Ammon); brothers, Shawn Thomas (Trish) and Steven Thomas (Shelley); maternal grandmother, Barbara Gardner; nephews, Xander Hartner and Jaiden Thomas; nieces, Hayley Hartner, Ashley Hartner, and Brooklyn Thomas; uncle, Keith Gardner (Signe); aunts, Rita Clark and Linda Holmes (Jack).
