Mrs. Annie Irene Hughes

Mrs. Hughes was born March 3, 1934, in Stone County, MS. She spent the majority of her adult life serving in various positions at Southside Baptist Church in Jackson. These positions included Kindergarten Teacher, Day Care Director, Pastor’s Secretary, Church Financial Secretary, Senior Adult Minister and Sunday School Director. In addition, she taught Sunday school for many years and was faithful in her ministry of visiting the home bound and those in the nursing home even when her own health was failing.

She is preceded in death by Husband, William Horace Hughes; Father and Step-mother, Archie and Julie Hall; Sisters, Ella Lundy and Essie Brooks.

Mrs. Hughes is survived by her daughter, Ann Edwards (Lee) of Jackson, MS; Sister, Betty Ford of Lucedale, MS; Grandson, Tyler Edwards of Jackson, MS; and Granddaughter, Michelle Edwards of Ashville, NC; along with many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Lakewood Memorial Park on Clinton Boulevard in Jackson, MS.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Southside Baptist Church, 800 Raymond Road, Jackson, MS 39204.
