Ann Hasson Marble, age 95, passed away peacefully at home on February 3, 2023. Services will be Saturday, February 11, 2023, in the Chapel of First Baptist Church in Jackson at 2:00 p.m. with visitation at the church from 1:00 p.m. until services at 2:00 p.m.
Ann was born on July 20, 1927, to Ludie Clary Hasson and Walter Ferrell Hasson. She grew up in Meridian, Mississippi, where her father owned the Hasson Grocery Company. Ann graduated from Meridian High School and received a bachelor's degree from Brenau College in Gainesville Georgia.
Ann married Ralph H. Marble in 1950 and they made their home in Starkville, Mississippi. In 1955, they moved to Jackson, where Ann raised four children, Ed, Janet, Lydia and Larry. Ann and Ralph were members of First Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class. Ann was active in the King’s Daughters Association and the Continental Club. She was involved in many activities with her children through the church and scouting.
Ann delighted in entertaining friends and family and always looked forward to her annual Christmas Night party, with the house fully decorated and the red carpet rolled out to greet her guests. A highlight of the summer was the annual trip to Lake Bruin, Louisiana with their friends and all their kids, the “Bruin Bunch.” She spent many happy hours in her garden, was an avid reader, and she filled her home with beautiful needlepoint works.
She was preceded in death by Ralph, her devoted husband of 58 years, her parents, brothers William Hasson and Robert Hasson, sister Jane Bennett, son Ed Marble, and daughter Lydia Marble Dell. She is survived by daughter Janet Marble (John Wike) of San Francisco, son Larry Marble (Amy Elder) of Jackson, son-in-law Dennis Dell, grandchildren Destin Dell (Kristen) of Madison, Tyler Dell of Jackson, Jordan Marble of San Francisco and three great-granddaughters.
The family especially wishes to thank her wonderful caregiver Latricia Griffin for the kindness and care she provided over the years. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Library Fund.
