Ann Kellum was born in Jackson, Mississippi, on September 20, 1928, to Mollie Belle (Smith) and Earl Colburn Duckworth. She was raised in the community of Luckney/Flowood and spent her adult life working as a bank teller for First National Bank, and bookkeeper for Seale-Lily ice cream and Morris Ice company.
While she grew up attending Liberty Baptist Church in Flowood, in the early 1970’s her family started attending Van Winkle Baptist Church in Jackson, where she stayed a member for almost 30 years, and taught Sunday School, and worked with the youth of the church.
As most of her friends know, she was quite quick-witted, was not afraid to share her opinion, and was an avid football fan. In addition, she loved watching golf on television, and was a Huge! Tiger Woods fan; though not so much Phil Mickelson.
Ann was the devoted wife to John Kellum for almost 42 years before his passing in 1999, and loving mother to Joey for 60 amazing years. She was a an incredibly loving grandmother to both Ethan Kellum and Connor Kellum and doted on them every chance she got.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, as well as her siblings, Thomas Earl Duckworth, Mana Joyner, Billy Duckworth, and Imogene Sumrall. She leaves behind her only child, Joey (Maggie) Kellum, and grandchildren Connor Kellum and Ethan (Lindsay) Kellum, and great grandchild Addison.
She passed away with her son by her side March 23,2020, at Shalom Park Nursing Center in Denver, Colorado, where she had lived for the last 12 years.
After two years of dealing with the chaos of Covid, her celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Lakewood Memorial Park with visitation from 1:00-3:00, with a service at 3:00.
