Of Jackson, passed away March 28, 2014 at the age of 73 after a courageous battle with lymphoma. He is survived by two children, Michelle (Matt) Schittenhelm and Tim Lake; his only grandson, Nicholas Schittenhelm and many friends. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce (Forner) Lake and his parents, Edwin and Alice (Lattie) Haab. He was a graduate of Chelsea High School, served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict and retired from Allied Chucker and Engineering Co. after 27 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and went to all of his grandson’s hockey and baseball games. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Allegiance Oncology and Hematology and the Allegiance Hospice Home for their excellent care. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church on Monday, March 31, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Bob Pienta officiating. Burial St. John’s Cemetery, Monday at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will be held at the Chas. J. Burden & Son Funeral Home (1806 E. Michigan Avenue, Jackson) on Sunday from 5 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Elementary School or the Allegiance Hospice Home.
