Of Jackson, passed away at her home on July 8, 2021 at the age of 69. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Dave Monroe; daughter, Kim (David) McLean; grandchildren, Alex and Victoria McLean; three sisters; Sandra Harmon, Lisa (Brian) Cooper and Lora (Kevin) Merrill as well as many nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends. In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by daughter, Kasey Monroe; brother, Kenny Burchett and aunt, Gloria Jean Warren. She was born in Jackson, Michigan on June 7, 1952 to Pastor, Sol and Mary (Spradlin) Burchett. She graduated from East Jackson High School in 1970. Wanda married David Monroe on May 7, 1971. She continued her education at the University of Tennessee, Martin and received a BAC with honors in Communications. She worked at the University of Michigan for several years, then moved to North Carolina to work as the Director of communications at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Wanda loved spending time with friends and family, especially her two grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, going to the ocean, visiting Disney, painting; loved to shop and was always willing to help others when she was able. Wanda touched the hearts and lives of many and will be greatly missed. According to her wishes, cremation has been chosen and a Memorial Service will be held at Patience- Montgomery Funeral Home (406 First Street Jackson, 49201) on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. with Mr. Randall Robinson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service for visitation. She will be laid to rest beside her daughter at Maxson Cemetery.
