Of Napoleon, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at the age of 98, with her family by her side. Under the kind and compassionate care of Great Lakes Caring Hospice. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Lawrence C. Brooks in 1981 as well as a son, Duane C. Brooks. The memories of her will live on through her two sons, Roger Brooks and Danny “Doc” (Christine) Brooks; her daughter-in-law, Stasia Brooks, five grandchildren as well as many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Viola was born to Ernest and Zella (Halifax) Jennings in Jackson on April 27, 1920. She attended Vandercook Lake Schools. On September 2, 1937 she married Mr. Brooks and together they raised their family. She was a hardworking and loving homemaker. She was employed at Woolworths, Kreske’s, Main and Company as well as Meijer. She enjoyed traveling and vacationing with family. She and Lawrence once rode with the Rose City Ramblers M.C. She touched the hearts and lives of many and will be greatly missed. A service celebrating her life will be held at Chas. J. Burden & Son Funeral Home on Monday, July 30, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday from 12:00 noon until the time of service. Mrs. Brooks will be laid to rest next to her husband at Oak Grove Cemetery in Napoleon Twp.
