November 23, 1917 - July 6, 2017
On July 6th, after a brief illness and just short of his 100th birthday, Robert died peacefully at MediLodge with family at his side. He received care from McLaren Hospice Services during his last days. Robert was born in Jackson, the second of four children, to Edna Marie and Louis Frank Worden. His three sisters, Beverly Mundy, Lois Resor, and Marie Snouffer preceded him in death. In 1957, he fell in love with and married Jane Arlene Zink, who he met at the Worden Agency where she worked as his father's secretary. They later purchased the business from his father and then operated it together for many years. A few years before retirement, they sold the business to the Charles Richmond Agency and worked there until they retired. When Jane fell ill, Bob cared for her for several years until her death in 2003. Bob is survived by his two children, Janeen Kalangian and Mark Worden; and also numerous nieces and nephews. As a young man, Bob worked in several Jackson area factories. He joined the National Guard, 119th Field Artillery Battery D, and when WWII broke out he served in the Aleutian Islands. Bob was a kindhearted, warm, generous, and loving man with a wonderful sense of humor. He was a gentle spirit who lived his life with grace, gratitude, and faith. Bob was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He took delight in being able to live on his own until he was 98 when he moved to MediLodge. Bob was simply a good man and deeply loved by many. We want to thank the staff of MediLodge for their kindnesses shown to Bob. We are grateful for the staff of McLaren Hospice who provided so much expertise and caring support to Bob and his family in his last days. Visitation will be at Trinity Lutheran Church, 122 W. Wesley St., Jackson, on Monday, July 10, 2017 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with the funeral at 11:00 am. Internment will take place at Woodland Cemetery on Monday at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for funeral expenses, in care of Janeen (Worden) Kalangian.
