Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Lois Peterson, three children, Janet (Scott) Andrew, Donald Peterson and Patricia (Terry) Traves, granddaughter Elizabeth Traves, sister Frances (Paul) Stouvenin, nephew Taylor (Joyce Ford) Hoffman and cousin Dick Johnson. He is preceded in death by infant son, James Wallace Peterson. Bob was born on March 29, 1935, in Minneapolis, MN. He met his wife, Lois, in Loves Park, IL during jr. high school and they married in 1955, one year after he entered the United States Marine Corps. Following honorable service as a Marine, Bob attended Michigan State University, graduating with a degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management in 1960. He settled in Jackson, MI, rising to executive positions at Win Schuler’s and then Gilbert’s Steakhouse. Bob achieved his ultimate dream when he became the proud owner and superlative host of The Brandywine Pub & Food. For many years, Bob offered his generous hospitality, greeting all with a warm smile and welcoming words of, “Please come in!” He was also a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Jackson where he was a well-known greeter and usher. Bob had a witty and wonderful sense of humor and was always up for a bit of playful mischief. He loved nothing more than lingering at the family dinner table, long after a meal was over, to savor the laughter and togetherness of those who he loved most in the world.
At Bob’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held at this time. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, remembrance donations be sent to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1505 W. Michigan Ave, Jackson, MI 49202 or to a charitable organization of your choice. Interment will be private at the Scandinavian Cemetery in Rockford, IL.
