Of Parma, passed away on Friday, August 3, 2012 at the age of 86, while in the loving care of his family at home. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years Eleanor Maxson; children, Debbie Elliott, Gordon (Kathy) Smith, Jackie (Jim) Folks, Jim Maxson, Mary (Mickey) Stiles, Marjorie, Marilyn and Marsha as well as Sandra (Chester Foulk) Ashley; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Forrest Maxson; parents, Kenneth and Olive Maxson; sister, Bonnie Smith and brother, Jack Maxson. Richard enlisted in the U.S. Navy when he was 17 and is a WWII Veteran. He was a Gunner’s Mate and an Armed Guard. After his military service he settled in Parma/Jackson area, where he raised his family. He was an Ace Mechanic, building trucks and trailers. He had a passion for music and enjoyed playing the guitar, piano and organ. He was a proud family man and appreciated spending time with family and friends on the farm. A service honoring his life will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Donald Hill officiating. Family will receive friends for visitation on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Mr. Maxson will be laid to rest at Chapel Cemetery with Military Honors.
