Rex was born on July 9, 1924 in Sherwood, Michigan, son of Merle (Decker) and Norman Miller. The family moved to Jackson, Michigan, where Rex met his wife of 74 years, Nellie (Lapp). They were united in marriage on September 22, 1946 in Jackson. Rex enlisted in the US Army in March, 1943 and served honorably until October, 1945. He was a member of the 31st Chemical Division and fought on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. He was employed for many years by Dawlen Corporation. After retirement, he and Nellie sold their beloved home on Portage Lake in Munith and spent over 20 years “on the road” in their fifth wheel. They made many special friends at the Pioneer RV Park in Texas and the Wild Cherry RV Resort in Suttons Bay. Rex is survived by his wife Nellie; sons Boyd (Susan) and Bruce (Terri); grandsons Adam (Brittney), Todd (Jennifer), Kevin (Morgan) and Bryan (Brittany); and five great grandsons. He is also survived by his brother Jack (Kathryn), sister in law Betty Lapp, and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by son Don Miller, brothers Frank and Max, and sister Ellen Donihue.
There will be a private family celebration of life at a later date.
