Of Jackson, passed away at his home with loved ones at his side on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at the age 67. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Darlene Whiting. He is survived by two sons, Nate (Sarah) Whiting and Drew (Anne Rumery) Whiting; three grandchildren, Madelynn, Franklin, and Lincoln; as well as his loving companion, Beth Lawrie-Smith. Mr. Whiting was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on October 27, 1951 to Raymond A. and Mary (Farley) Whiting. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Ferris State University and a Master’s degree from Eastern Michigan University. Gerry taught for 31 years at the Jackson Area Career Center where he taught graphic arts. In accordance with Gerry’s wishes, cremation has been chosen and a service to honor him will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation the Henry Ford Allegiance Health Foundation in the name of the Mayor of Agnes Street.
