Of Jackson, MI passed from this world to the next on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at the age of 89. She was born Phyllis Mae Bapst on April 17, 1931 to Albert and Esther (Ritzke) in Garrett, Indiana. She met her husband of 49 years, Jack Wiley Wilkie while attending Jackson High School, and they were married on August 6, 1948 in Jackson. Phyllis loved ice skating at Loomis Park. She and Jack traveled many summers throughout Michigan and the United States in their camper and trailer. Phyllis enjoyed growing flowers, and was skilled at sewing and crafts, making purses which she sold at craft fairs and from her booth at the flea market. She was an avid animal lover. Phyllis was happy to see birds in her bird feeder and bird bath, and her dogs and cats were her loyal companions for many years. Phyllis and Jack had four sons: Bruce, Bryan, Alan, and Jack. All of them graduated from East Jackson High School. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her brother, Vernon (Annie) of Punta Gorda, FL; her sister, Elaine (Ed) Fudalski of Jackson, MI and her son, Bruce (Kathy) of Jackson, MI. She is survived by her brother, Paul (Karen) of Napoleon, MI, her sons, Bryan (Rebecca) of Fort Collins, CO, Alan (Diane), and Jack of Jackson, MI; her grandchildren, Bruce (Kathy) of Linden, MI, Carrie of Yardley, PA, and Amanda (Dan) of Belmont, MI, five great-grandchildren, Conner and Parker of Linden, MI and Ian, Gavin and Ellie of Belmont, MI. A private interment service will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the local animal shelter.
