Of Jackson, MI passed away on August 10, 2020 at the age of 82. Melvyn was born in Jackson on September 18, 1937 to parents Harry and Marion Parks in Jackson Michigan. He married Cathy Parks. Melvyn worked in die forging at LeFere Forge and after retiring, opened Mel's Garage, which he owned and operated. He also enjoyed racing cars at Jackson Motor Speedway. He served our country in the United States Army from 1946 - 1959. Melvyn is survived by his daughter Valerie Hays; grandchildren Travis (Autumn) Hays, Tiffany Killarney, Trisha (Jake) Jones, and Trevor Hays; six great grandchildren; special family Katrina and Tracy Sanford and their five grandchildren and brothers, Richard (Joyce) Parks, Robert (Laure) Parks and former spouse of 30 years Jane Van Dyke. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Cathy, and his sister Linda Hendrick. Melvyn will be laid to rest with military honors at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta Michigan.
