Mr. M.B. Hicks, Jr. (Lil Bro.) was born in Sherrill, AR on March 27, 1937, the first born son of the late M.B. and Viola (Scott) Hicks, Sr. He transitioned on July 9, 2017 at the Jackson County Medical Care Facility, at the age of 80.
He confessed hope in Jesus Christ at Sunrise Baptist Church in Sherrill, AR and became Superintendent of Sunday School. He attended Sherrill School while working with his parents as farmers. He relocated to Jackson, MI in 1955. After various jobs, he retired from the foundry in Monroe, MI. He and wife, Alice E. Hicks, united with Lily Missionary Baptist Church in 2009 under the leadership of Pastor James L. Hines. He loved family, fishing, and jokes. But his true passion was cooking.
M.B. was preceded in death by his wife, Alice E. Hicks; his parents; three sisters: Rosetta Harrell, Arzell (James) Williams and Gracie (L.T. Sr.) Dentmond; several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.
He leaves the following to cherish many fond and loving memories: one son and best friend, Christopher Emmett (Rebecca) Hicks; seven step-children: Nadine, Marillyn, Hazey, Nathaniel, Tyrone, Wilbur and Mike; many step-grandchildren; six sisters: Willie M. Dunlap, Allean Hicks, Vivian Hicks, Melba J. Hicks all of Jackson, MI, Lucille Shelmon of Toledo, OH and Altha M. Pickett of Birmingham, AL; one brother, William Melvin (Joyce) Hicks of Jackson, MI; sister-in-law, Cynthia; brothers-in-law: James, Raymond and William; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Jackson County Medical Care Facility for their compassion and care of M.B.
Funeral services will be held at Lily Missionary Baptist Church on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 12:00 P.M. with Pastor James L. Hines officiating. Family hour 11:00 A.M. until service time. Viewing at the funeral home Thursday 4-8 P.M.
