Of Jackson, Michigan passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2021 at the age of 93, with her family at her side. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Floyd Fater; four brothers and one granddaughter; three great-grandchildren. She will be remembered by her children, Steven (Jan) Fater, Cynthia Fater, Mark (Jamme) Fater and Curtis (Janet) Fater; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends. Maxine was born on June 28, 1928 in Pontiac, Michigan to Roy and Ida (Farley) Bennett and is a graduate of Pontiac Central High School. She married Floyd Fater in Pontiac on August 15, 1947 and together they raised their family. Maxine began her career as an operator at Consumers Power and volunteered at her children's school. She continued her education in nursing and retired from W.A. Foote Memorial Hospital after many years. After her retirement she returned to Henry Ford Allegiance Health as a volunteer. She was a loving family woman and was kind and compassionate. She touched the lives and hearts of many. She will be greatly missed. Maxine had a strong faith in the Lord and was a member of Arbor Grove Congregational Church (2621 McCain Road Jackson, Michigan 49203) where a service honoring her life will be held on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Linda Farmer-Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation from 1:00 p.m until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home or to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Fater will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan at a later date.
