Of Jackson, Michigan passed away peacefully at home on March 9, 2025, at the age of 71. Martin was born in Jackson, Michigan on May 18, 1953, to parents Lloyd and Julia Wicklund. Martin was a long-time employee of the Jackson Public Works Department, ending his career at the water treatment plant. Martin bowled for many years and enjoyed golfing and spending time on the water tubing and fishing. He loved lighthearted pranks and jokes. He also was a University of Michigan football fan, attending many games over the years and even painting his garage maize and blue. Martin also enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, Red Wings, and Lions. He also was especially proud of the putting green he made in his yard, finding joy in sharing it with friends, family, and neighbors. Martin is survived by his wife Ruby Wicklund; children Kindra Wicklund, Tina (Chris) Marriott, Amber (Paul White) Sowards, Kate (Dale) Spicer, and John Wicklund; grandchildren Marisa White, Paul White, Atticus Spicer, Ava Spicer, and Emmett Spicer; great grandchild Colten Toohey; and three sisters and two brothers. A celebration of Martin's life will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Burden & Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home (1806 East Michigan Ave., Jackson) with a memorial visitation from 2:00 PM until time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital (262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105) or Cascades Humane Society (1515 Carmen Drive, Jackson, MI 49202).
