He is a 1963 graduate of Northwest High School. Lavern spent many years working for the Plasticgage Corporation before helping his daughter and son-in-law with their family-owned restaurant Senor Charlie’s. Lavern grew up on Van Dorn Street where he met his childhood sweetheart Sharon Stuart. They were married in 1964, and quickly started a family, they moved to the East Jackson district in 1971.
Lavern was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His daily life was scheduled around his kids and his grandkids activities. He was the type of person who would lend a helping hand to anyone who asked and often he would just show up never needing to be asked. He was generous with his love and his time, and he could fix anything after taking it apart. He often shared his time by coaching or assisting with his grandkid’s extracurricular activities. His favorite sports teams were the Lions, Tigers, and Michigan and he proudly sported their shirts and caps. Other activities included fishing, golfing, WWE wrestling, playing basketball with the kids, family poker nights with all the relatives, but his most favorite activity was cheering his kids and grandkids on proudly in the stands. He was a friend to all who knew him, and he will be missed dearly.
According to his wishes cremation has been chosen. A Celebration of his life will be held at the Funeral Home on October 24, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
