Karleen Marie Smith

Of Tompkins, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, July 24, 2016. Sadly in death taking her unborn daughter with her at the age of 27. She will forever be remembered by her loving husband Donald "Tony" Smith. Treasured by parents, Bruce and Trena French; Grandma, McArthur and a multitude of extended family and friends. Karleen was born in Lansing on May 1, 1989. Many of the goals she set for herself have been achieved in her brief life. As a graduate of Northwest School with Honors; going on to graduate from MSU with awards, settling into a career as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with the Veterans Administration Hospital in Battle Creek. She loved boating, baking, good movies and good books. She celebrated life in so many ways with so many people. A service honoring her life will be held at Clark Lake Community Church on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Northwest schools choir, a local library or to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
