Of Jackson, Michigan passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family and the compassionate care of Elara Hospice. Ed was born on August 21, 1945 to Richard Sr. and Velma Close-Barron in Jackson, Michigan. His memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Anna Barron; son, Joseph Barron II; step-daughter, Christine (Jason) Walters; siblings, Leonard Barron Sr., Nancy (Richard) Pickell, Nellie (Thomas) Hedgecough; grandchildren, Courtney Barron, Keairra (Kienan) Coleman, Ceairra Barron, Neveah Barron, Joshua Pirtle, Michael Henry, Javen Barron, Kellie King, Chad King, and Jennifer Jordan; and several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Beverly Worden, Richard Barron Jr., and Gerald Barron; nephews, Christopher Worden and Daniel Neelis; and grandson, Robbie Jordan.
Ed worked at Clark Equipment for many years until it closed and then retired from Eaton Corporation. He was an avid outdoorsmen, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He also collected classic cars, and participated in the Jackson Cruise Night with his red 1940 Chevy truck. He was a proud Vietnam Army Veteran (River Rats) and served from 1966-1968. Ed looked forward to game nights with family and friends, and adored his favorite companion, Lilly, a loving, spoiled cockapoo.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. Ed was a member of the American Legion Post 29 and a Celebration of his Life will be held at the Post 29 (3200 Lansing Ave, Jackson, MI 49202) on May 2, 2024 at 2:00 pm officiated by his dear friend, Rev. Melvin Hicks, followed by Military Honors and visitation until 5:00 pm.
