Colette and Nathan, I am sorry to hear of your Dads passing. I remember my days at the church there in Jackson when my Aunt JoANN Jayne would sing Come to the waters and than your Dad would preach the Word of God. It was than when I came to know the Lord.

I am so sorry to hear about your father.  He was such a special person in our family's lives.  I came to know him in the 1950s at Eden and he has married and buried most of our family, the last was my mother about 7 years ago.   He and your mom were like a part of our family.

We are very sorry to hear of your Dads death. We are still in our winter home in Arizona but this kind of news travels to wherever we might be. Your parents were very much involved with our family for several years with Trenna and Judys weddings and with family funerals. There are many great remembrances from when we lived in North Jackson near the church     Marv and Pat Christensen

Colette and Nathan,
I did not hear of your dad passing until April lst.  Herb and Phyllis were a big part of the Elwarts lives starting in the 70's.  Kids in choir, Phyllis playing organ like an angel, Herb leading the singing with his "gusto" and enthusiasm! Those were the good old days.  I am experiencing a deep sadness now that both parents are gone.  Wish I could have been at the funeral, but I was out of town. We will keep in touch and always share the "good times". The service was a great tribute to your dad and the spiritual legacy he left behind.  God used him to bring my family to faith in Christ.  Now, I am trying to do the same for others.

Your family has been a blessing to our family and will always cherish our times together.  I am certain that your dad is rejoicing with your mom in Heaven.

Nathan and Collette...as you know i have been in hospital and just got out today.  I wanted to come today so bad.  Your parents meant more to me and doug than we can say.  we were so priveleged to know them and so looking forward to being with them in Heaven.  His contagious laugh and caring personality was like no other and your mom gave me a gift as she fought for life..encouragement and prayers.  Please know that they both are in our hearts forever stamped...we love them.

I knew who your father was but did not know Rev. Cherry well. I must tell you a story that happened years ago at Northwest Elem. School. We (parents etc) were all in the bleachers to watch a sports event. A young student came out to sing the National Anthem to start it off. She was just into the song when she suddenly either forgot the words or fear set in because she just stopped. It seemed like it went on for minutes but I'm sure it was seconds.I was beginning to tear up for 
the child and felt sick for her. Your Father suddenly stood up in the bleachers and picked up singing where she had stopped. Everyone stood up and sang along with him. It was so emotional. What an awesome thing to do.
He was a fine example of what how we all should be.

Dr. Cherry will truly be missed, I knew him as I was a student at Baker College. Dr. Cherry helped me over come my shyness for talking in  front of a group,which helped me in my future. And the one thing I will never forget was his love of laughter. Until We Meet again Dr. Cherry bless you for all you did for your Students.

Our loss is Heavens gain!  What a wonderful and gentle man.  A man of peace and love that always led by example.  A wonderful smile and a contagious laugh. I pray that your family will be comforted by God's embrace.  I was saddened to hear of his departure from this mortal life, but the Angels are singing and rejoicing on his arrival into Heaven.  For all eternity with Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  May God Bless and comfort your family in this time of need.

Nathan and Collette, I have said this many times, but I will say it again - your parents were the most influential people in my families life for a long time.  I am doing what I am today because of the example your mom and dad were to me.  My desire is to train up the next generation of Christ-followers just as your parents did for me.  I know they are rejoicing together with my mom and Jesus!

Herb was a wonderful man. May the Lord hold his family close during this difficult time.
