Dr. Herbert K. Cherry, 79, of Bloomington, Indiana, formerly of Jackson, Michigan, passed away on Thursday at the Golden Living Center Nursing Home. Born November 6, 1931, in Charlotte, MI, he was the son of Richard and Ruth Cherry of Charlotte, MI, who preceded him in death. He was married to Phyllis Martin in June 1955. They lived in Mason, Ypsilanti and Jackson, Michigan, while he pastored with the United Brethren in Christ Church. They moved from Jackson, MI, to Bloomington, Indiana in 2006. He is survived by son, Nathan Cherry; daughter, Colette Richardson; and one granddaughter, Loralea Richardson, all of Bloomington, Indiana. He is also survived by his brothers, Dr. Harold Cherry, and Dr. Howard (Suzanne) Cherry; along with loving brother-in-law, Lowell (Delores) Martin and their families. The funeral service will be Thursday, March 31, at 11 a.m. at Eden United Brethren Church, 1938 Eden Road, Mason, Michigan 48854. Funeral arrangements are by Chas J. Burden & Son Funeral Home, 1806 East Michigan Ave., Jackson, MI. Friends may call at the funeral home, Wednesday, March 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. and also preceding the service at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, for the church's memorial gardens at 1503 W. That Road, Bloomington, Indiana 47403.
