Of Jackson, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at the age of 80. She is survived by her daughter, Leisa Salisbury (Anthony); three grandchildren, Chelsi Sharpe (Wesley), Carl Stull Jr. (Alicia) and Cheyne Stull; two great grandchildren, Christopher and Axel Stull; sisters, Barbara Norris and Dorothy Dorenbush as well as many nieces, nephews and their children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Delores Teske, Shirley Kaercher and Peggy Korkoskie; brother, James Teske; brother-in-law, Henry Norris; niece, Sonya (Sam) Smith and nephew, Fred Norris. Helen was born in Jackson, Michigan on April 29, 1943 to Fritz and Nellie (Smith) Teske and is a 1961 Graduate of Jackson High School. She worked many years at The Chemist Shop, before serving W.A. Foote Hospital for 20 plus years, retiring in 2005 to stay at home and take care of her brother Jimmy. After his passing in 2014, she honored him by coming out of retirement to work at Life Span, caring for other mentally disabled adults. FAMILY was everything to Helen. She spent summers taking all the grandchildren, nieces and nephews to the family cabin her father built on Big Bass Lake near Gaylord. She enjoyed teaching them how to fish and swim as well as passing down family stories. She had the great joy of taking her great grandsons there in July. Helen loved teaching children and volunteered at Bennett Elementary school for the accelerated reader program. Helen had a generous heart. She became the neighborhood cat lady because she couldn't see the strays and drop offs left to freeze or starve outside. She was this way with people too. She had many "adopted" children because she was kind and loving to everyone. She was always willing to help others, even if she did without. She will be laid to rest after a short service at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 3:00 P.M.
