Helen F. Dungy

Of Jackson, Michigan, born on October 26, 1926, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 1, 2020. She is survived by her sister, Arletha Dungy. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Alvie W. Dungy Jr., her son Alvie W. Dungy III, mother Ada Green, father Alvin Green, and brother Simon Greene. Helen was blessed with four children. Her son Alvie W. Dungy III preceded her in death. Her surviving children are Beverly Hurd (Gene), Bruce Dungy (Cathy), Kevin Dungy. She leaves behind a daughter-in-law Jackie Dungy, seven grandchildren Adrian Hurd, Latisha Hurd, Shawn Hurd (Jennifer), Aaron Dungy (Jessica), Jennifer Bradshaw (Al), Alissa Manor (Alex), Bayley Dungy and seven great-grand children McKenna, BreAnna, Maddox, Mallory, Marissa, Alanna, Amaya, and another expected soon (Atlas). Helen was employed for 10 years at the Jackson County Medical Care Facility. The rest of her time was spent being a stay-at-home wife and mother. Her favorite hobby was gardening. She loved to work in her flower and vegetable gardens. She was an avid history buff and loved to gather information on her family ancestry. She was a member of Berean Bible Baptist Church and enjoyed studying the Bible. Funeral Services will be held at Second Baptist Church 304 E. Prospect St. Jackson, Michigan on Friday, January 10, 2020 at 12:00 PM. Visitation and Family Hour will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Internment will take place at Woodland Cemetery immediately following the service. The family has respectfully requested, in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to Family Life Radio on her behalf.
