Of Jackson, passed away at the age of 81, on Monday, May 13, 2024, with his loving and devoted daughter, Kendra by his side. He is survived by his daughter, Kendra (Dennis) Fletcher; grandsons, Connor (Katelyn) and Carson (Mak) McKay ; great granddaughters, Danielle, Riley, Scarlett, and Lilah; sister-in-law, Cookie Chown; special niece Monique (Bill) Morehouse who ensured that he was able to continue his love of dancing to the local bands and music by taking him out on the weekends. Special nephews Bill (Mary Jo) Chown for always having a project for him to help with and dinner ready when he stopped over; Harry Chown, and Monte (Amy) Chown, as well as several other nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews. Cousin Arlene Tousley for all of her patience and time spent taking him out and keeping him busy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Pauline Chown, brother, William Chown and sister, Kay Sierminski, and niece Tonya Chown. Harry was born in Jackson, Michigan on October 29, 1942, to Harry Sr. and Peggy (Stiles) Chown. He worked at Hayes Albion (Harvard Industries) before he retired. He enjoyed helping others, meeting new people, attending his grandsons’ sporting events, listening to music, and dancing to all kinds of music ranging from the Cupid shuffle, country, classic rock, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and even Baby Shark , when requested by one of his great granddaughters. Harry always had a smile on his face, and a welcoming hello there, which was quickly followed with a handshake. This always turned into a conversation that would last longer than what was anticipated to be a quick trip to the grocery store. He never met a stranger, this was often apparent if you had ever accompanied him to a restaurant, sporting event, store or while in another state. He would always run into someone that he knew or someone that knew him by one of his many titles, Pauline’s husband, Kendra’s dad, Papa, Uncle Harry, Jr, and Mr. Dance. His daughter was his pride and joy, and he was always so happy when she would go dancing with him. He loved animals, especially his daughter's and grandsons’ dogs; spending time with his family, teaching his grandsons how to cook scrambled eggs, whittle with a pocketknife, build blanket forts in the Family Room and dancing with his great granddaughters. The love he had for them and the joy they gave him was always apparent on his face, he was so proud, and he told everyone about them. At his daughter’s request, she is asking that all attendees join them in wearing jeans, band t shirts, and cowboy boots as a tribute to him. Anyone who had the pleasure of watching or dancing with my dad knew how he dressed when he went out. The family will receive friends for visitation at Burden-Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home 1806 E. Michigan Avenue on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, from 12:00 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. Followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:30 P.M. Harry will be entombed at Hillcrest Memorial Park following the service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the family.
