Of Jackson, formerly of Springport, passed away on Monday, May 14, 2018, at the age of 74 due to complications of Alzheimer’s. She is survived by two daughters, Rhonda (Terry) Ball and Leane Powell; two grandchildren, Kamron (Vasti) Ball and Michaela Powell; and a special cousin, Bernice McKim. She is preceded in death by both parents as well as seven brothers and sisters. Glenda was born to Gordon and Aretta (Burnett) Hamilton on June 26, 1943 in Lawton, Oklahoma. She worked in the Springport School system while her daughters were in school and then became a corrections officer. She was among the first wave of women officers allowed to work in the housing units at the State Prison of Southern Michigan. She worked up through the ranks and held several positions at the prison, finishing her career as an Internal Investigations Officer. After retirement she returned to working with kids at Vandercook Lake Public Schools. Glenda was an avid bowler and very involved with the USBC Greater Jackson Bowling Association for many years. There will be no formal services. Those who knew her, remember her with a smile.
