Of DeWitt, Michigan passed away on August 17, 2012 at the age of 84. Dr. Barrows was born on December 5, 1927 to Barney and Marian Barrows in Ft. Collins Colorado. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jean, sons, Bruce (Roxanne) of Spring Arbor, MI, Brian of Las Vegas, Nevada, a sister; Bernadette (Bobby) Grant of Sun City Texas; step- grandchildren, Travis Curry of Jackson, MI, Chad Curry of North Pole, Alaska and Sonja (Patrick) Hoxie of Spring Arbor, MI, numerous step –great grandchildren, a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. Dr. Barrows begin his teaching career at Northwest Missouri State College in Maryville, MO teaching there from 1960-1966, Then 1966 Dr. Barrows and his family moved to Michigan to teach at Michigan State and was a Professor Emeritus and served for a time as Chairman of the Humanities Department. His doctorate degree was in the 17th Century English History. He enjoyed classical music and jazz and history, photography and taking college students to England through Michigan State University’s Overseas Studies Program. A graveside service will take place on Tuesday August 21, 2012 at 11:00am at Pleasant Grove Cemetery (Kennedy Rd) in Munith, MI.
