Of Jackson, MI passed away on December 17, 2018 at the age of 97. Elsie was born on January 25, 1921 to parents Adolph and Augusta Stubelt in Alberta, Canada. She married Alex Polashak on June 21, 1940 in Benton Harbor. Elsie was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church for many years, teaching the 4-5 year-old Sunday School class. She also was a homemaker; loved crafts, especially going to craft shows with Karen and Jerry; loved being with her grandchildren and family; and enjoyed cooking, especially baking cookies and apple crisp. Elsie enjoyed traveling with Alex to Europe and Hawaii and also enjoyed wintering in Florida. She “had a good life.” Elsie is survived by her daughter, Karen (Larry) Young; daughter-in-law, Nancy; 6 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Alex; her son, Gerald; 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Per her wishes, cremation has been chosen. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 11:30am at Immanuel Lutheran Church (1505 W. Michigan Ave., Jackson, MI 49202). The family will receive friends at the church starting at 10:30am until the time of the service. She will be laid to rest next to her husband Alex at Hillcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
