Of Jackson, passed away peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, December 13, 2015, age 78. Survived by his wife of 50 years, Karen L.; daughters, Janice L. Dewey of Holland and Beth A. Richardson of Rives Junction; three granddaughters who were the light of his life, Mikayla, Vivianna, and Bethany Richardson; and one sister, Nancy L. Dewey of Jackson. He was preceded in death by infant son, Robert David; parents, Major Leland K. and Dorothy F. Dewey; and a baby brother. David was a tool & die maker working at numerous shops in Jackson before going to General Motors in Lansing. He retired from General Motors in 2001 after 16 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, going on cruises, model trains, and airplanes. Since retirement, Dave has spent many hours at G&G Trains in Leslie, especially during the last couple of years. Thanks, Gary. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3637 Spring Arbor Rd. Jackson, Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Michael A. Geml officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
