Chonita LaJuan Oliver-Hardman was born on January 26, 1996, in Detroit, MI, To the proud parents of Steven Hardman, and Patricia Oliver. Through life they supported her every step of the way. Chonita, graduated from Jackson High in 2014, making her, and her parents proud. Growing up Chonita had wonderful Grandparents who took care of her, and paved the way for her faith, and as she grew older from time to time, she would attend Holy Light Missionary Baptist Church in Battle Creek, MI, and on December 25th, 2023, Chonita made her personal decision to accept Christ into her heart as her personal savior. Chonita was not perfect, but despite the challenges she faced, and the many battles she encountered, she remained resilient. From the age of 12, she battled with epilepsy, causing her to recover from a serious brain injury, but that didn’t stop her, she continued to demonstrate incredible strength and determination throughout her life. Chonita was a playful, loving and caring person who touched the lives of everyone she encountered. She exemplified love and kindness, her personality was outgoing, and she always expressed her affection for others while ensuring they felt valued. Her genuine smile was a constant reminder of her warmth and compassion. A beautiful soul, Chonita had a deep desire to help people and put others before herself. She possessed an incredible love for her nieces, showering them with gifts and affection, Chonita’s heart yearned to fit in with everyone, as she believed in the power of inclusivity, and acceptance. Chonita loved listening to music, dancing, hanging out with family, friends, and she also enjoyed meeting new people. On behalf of her loved ones, we mourn the loss of Chonita. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered for her kind, funny, and playful spirit. The joy she brought into the lives of others, will forever be remembered. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
Chonita is proceeded in death by her Great grandparents Willie Mae Hardrick, Harry Hardman, Virgil Roger, Elmira Oliver, and Aaron Oliver, Grandparents Steven Hardman III, Dorthy Mae Oliver, Brother Carl Reynolds, Uncle Joseph Oliver, Great Aunt Fannie Throgmartin, Aunt Amanda Oliver, Cousin Patricia Throgmartin, Shakeya Flowers, and Shameka Lajuan Oliver.

A visitation for Chonita will be held Thursday, March 7, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Burden & Patience-Montgomery, 1806 E. Michigan Ave., Jackson, Michigan. A family hour will occur Friday, March 8, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Greater Bible Way Temple, Jackson, Michigan. A home going service will occur Friday, March 8, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Greater Bible Way Temple, Jackson, Michigan.
