Born on October 20, 1960, he was the son of Walter L. Hunter Jr. and the late Ann Young Hunter. He graduated from Hammond High School and The Citadel. Tripp married Carolyn Coleman “Lyn” Hunter on November 25, 1989. He retired from the SCANG in 2004 as a Lt. Colonel. He then retired from Walter Hunter Construction Co. and went back to work for Lexington County. Tripp was an active member of Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church for over 27 years, where he served as a Deacon as well as in other areas.
Tripp is survived by his wife, Lyn Hunter; son, Walter L. Hunter IV (Tradd), his wife Ashley; sons, James Coleman Hunter and William Hopkins Hunter; and one special granddaughter, Penelope Grace Hunter. He is also survived by his father, Walter L. Hunter, Jr. and two sisters, Susan Hunter Lifchez (Marc) and Elise Hunter Wallace (Ted), along with many other family members.
Tripp wants everyone to remember the good times, always be mindful of the needs and care of others and when you think of him to smile and say he had a good life.
A Celebration of Tripp’s Life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 10, 2024 at Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church, with visitation following at the church.
