Russell Madison Perry

COLUMBIA - A funeral service for Russell Madison Perry, 80, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 25, 2023 at Irmo First Baptist Church, with burial in Bush River Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Mr. Perry passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023. Born in St. Matthews, SC, he was a son of Annie Dorothy “Dot” Martin Perry and the late Calvin Daniel Perry. A graduate of Dreher High School, he served in the Army National Guard. Russell worked for South Carolina Department of Mental Health until he retired after 31 years of service. He was a member of Irmo First Baptist Church. Russell loved cars and motorcycles. He loved to workout and was an avid weight lifter. Most of all, he enjoyed going on trips to the beach with his family.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Rachel Wiggers Perry; daughter, Dianne Odom (Marge); son, Don Perry (Carmen); four grandchildren, Parker Odom, Jake Odom, Maddie Branham, and Anna Branham; his mother, Annie Dorothy “Dot” Martin Perry; and a sister-in-law, Dillie A. Perry.

In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his brother, Joe Danny Perry, and sister, Dottie Dianne Perry.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Irmo First Baptist Church, 7068 Nursery Road, Columbia, SC 29212, American Heart Association, 190 Knox Abbott Dr # 301, Cayce, SC 29033 or to the charity of one's choice.
