Born in Columbia April 14th, 1943, Roy was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bill and Hazel Lassiter. His dedication to his country lead Roy to a notable military career in the US Marine Corps, during which he was awarded various special honors including a national defense service medal, armed forces expeditionary medal, good conduct medal and rifle sharpshooter badge.
Following his military career, Roy lived an exceptionally fulfilling life with Sandra and their two daughters. Always the family provider, Roy founded and served as the President of Cimarron Trucking, Inc. for 45 years. Roy’s life was the epitome of balance, the fast-paced thrills of boat racing (mostly fast, sometimes slow) and cross-country trucking were countered by his love for gardening and spending time with his family at his home overlooking the peaceful waters of Lake Murray. He also enjoyed frequent trips to Florida and Charleston with friends.
In addition to Sandra, Roy was predeceased by his sister Myrtle Lee. Roy leaves behind his two sisters; daughters, Gina M. McDaniel and Candice M. Donaldson; grandchildren, Christopher Terry II, Krystal Harris, Breland Donaldson, Taylor McDaniel, and Celia Donaldson; and three great grandchildren, Christopher Terry III, Braxton Roy Terry, and Holden Terry.
