COLUMBIA - Rose Mills, 98, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 11:52 a.m. She was born September 23, 1923 in Lafayette, LA. She attended school in New Orleans and became a USO girl during World War II. While serving as a USO girl, she met her husband, Robert James Mills Jr., a well-known local artist who passed away in 1981.
Mrs. Mills retired in 2019 at the age of 95, following 50 years of service for the State of South Carolina between Legislative Council for the General Assembly and the Department of Revenue.
She is survived by two daughters, Denise Ann Duggan and Michelle Rose Rickenbaker. She is also survived by three grandsons, James Robert Wilson, James Mills Duggan and Joseph Thomas Duggan.
A celebration of life service for Mrs. Mills will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at the family home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children or the local ASPCA.
