Roger Walter Carter

A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Haywood Independent Bible Church Cemetery in Moncure, NC. The family will receive friends at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

Walter was born August 1, 1935 in Bear Creek, NC to David Lee and Bertha Ada Tickle Carter. He was a 1954 graduate of Deep River School and attended Campbell College. He served his country proudly in the US Army and the US Coast Guard. Walter was a member of Union UMC and was employed as an Insurance Adjuster. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.

In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his siblings, Charles Lee Carter, Joe Bob Carter and David Lee Carter. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth “Lib” Carter; three children, Sheila Gillease (Chris Cooper), Roger Walter Carter, Jr. (Shelby Wooten), Kenneth Carter (Mandy); five grandchildren; Graham Gillease, Zachary Carter, Logan Gillease, Staton Carter, Ellie Carter; and a brother, Norman Franklin Carter.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Haywood Church Cemetery, 6174 Broadway Road, Sanford, NC or Union United Methodist Church, 7582 Woodrow St, Irmo, SC 29063.
