Robert F. “Laddie” Riley Jr.

COLUMBIA - Robert F. “Laddie” Riley, Jr., 78, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023. Born in Columbia, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Robert F. Riley Sr, and the late Hilda Watson “Yum Yum” Riley.

Laddie was a graduate of Eau Claire High School and The University of South Carolina. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and worked for the City of Columbia in the Parks and Recreation Department and later the Parking Division, from which he retired. After retirement, he worked for Dunbar Funeral Home.

Laddie was a fan of Gamecock athletics and an avid golfer who was a member of Mid Carolina Country Club. He was a loving husband, father, and father-in-law and will be greatly missed by both family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Rob Riley (Kelly) of Nashville, TN; brothers, Joe Riley of Columbia, SC, Mike Riley of Columbia, SC; and sisters, Pam McGuire of Charleston, SC, Bonnie Griffin (Claude) of John’s Creek, GA, and Sharon Mathias of Columbia, SC.

Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Suzanne Powell Riley.

The family will receive friends Sunday, August 13, 2023 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 14, 2023 at Anglican Cathedral Church of the Epiphany, 2512 N. Beltline Blvd. Columbia, SC 29204.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to one’s charity of choice.
