Services for Rebecca “Becky” Becknell Cook, 71, will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2020 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo. The family will receive friends following the service.
Becky passed away Friday, March 13, 2020. Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Doris Webb Becknell. She was the wife of the late H. Frankie Cook. A registered nurse, Becky worked at Providence Hospital in the emergency room and was on the 1st Flight Team for critical patients in South Carolina. She then went to Palmetto Richland where she was an RN on the Level 1 Trauma Unit and worked with patients who had been raped and suffered domestic violence and abuse. After her medical career, she decided to go to Kenneth Shuler’s School of Cosmetology. She became a stylist and opened her own beauty shop called, “The Hair Show” where she worked until she retired.
Surviving are her sister and brother-in-law, Carla and Al Fallaw of Gilbert; sons, Jamison Whitlock (Melissa), Ryan Whitlock, Adam Cook; daughters, Dana Whitlock, Caroline Raley (Ryan); grandchildren, Zachary, Thomas Alden, London , Luke, and Lawson Whitlock, Randy Metcalf, Taylor Metcalf, and Cooper Raley. Also surviving are many cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, and husband, Becky was preceded in death by her grandparents, Viola and A. E. Becknell; Katie and Carl Webb; and her brother, Ralph “Jody” Webb Becknell.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
