Patsy Ruth Hooks

Born in Bluefield, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas McGovern and Esther Lee McGovern. A 1969 graduate of Myrtle Beach High School, she played in the State Champion Basketball Team in 1965. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Francis Marion University. Patsy worked as a nurse at Grand Strand Regional Hospital and Surgery Center until she retired. She was an animal lover and loved helping people.

Surviving are her son, Michael Hooks (Brooke); grandson, Gavyn Hooks; nieces, Tammy Snead (Rayner) and Chrissie Booth (Chris); her special dog, Bella; and several other nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Patsy’s life will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel.
