Patricia (Pat) Rich Galvin departed this earth to meet her Lord on November 25. Born July 24, 1932, in Providence, RI, to the late Mary Goloski, she was a graduate of St Mary’s Academy, East Providence, RI, and Salve Regina Women’s College, Newport, RI. A former parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, she most recently attended Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church, Irmo, SC.
After moving to South Carolina, she worked in various state agencies, including the Governor’s Office, SC Commission for the Blind, and Columbia Urban League, finally retiring as sales associate with the Greenville Hilton.
In her own words, “She taught us to live in the now, always open to the joy the next moment might bring and that we all have an infinite capacity to give and forgive. Communication doesn’t require words…listening happens with the heart.” Her favorite things were cooking, giving to others, her children and grandchildren, the holidays, and decorating.
Pat is survived by every heart she ever touched and every hand she ever held. She leaves behind her beloved daughter, Carleen Reynolds (Keith), sons, Mark and Patrick Rich (Wynee), granddaughter, Kelley Cowan, grandsons, Christopher and Austin Rich, and 2 great grandchildren, Rory and Sloane Cowan. She was predeceased by her son, Michael Rich.
A celebration of her life will be held at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, on November 29 at 11 am. Visitation will be held from 10-10:45 am prior to the service. A private family burial will follow at Woodridge Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to Mission Lexington in Lexington, SC, or a charity of one’s choice.
