Nell Bouknight Poole, 82, of Irmo, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025. She was born on January 30, 1942, to the late William Michael and Jessie Hicks Bouknight. A proud graduate of Irmo High School, Class of 1960, Nell led a life full of love, dedication, and service to her family and community.
Nell married the late George “Bennie” Poole on May 24, 1964, and together they raised three children. She was a devoted wife, mother, and her family was always the center of her world. Nell worked as a receptionist at the Lowman Home for many years, where she touched the lives of many with her kindness and warmth.
A member of New Hope Lutheran Church in Irmo, Nell was a faithful servant to her church community, finding strength and comfort in her faith. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bennie; son, Mitchell Poole; parents, Jessie and William Bouknight; sisters, Helen Craft and Mabel Jennings; and brother, Monroe Bouknight.
Nell is survived by her daughter, Joye (Randy) King; son, Garrett Poole; step-granddaughter, Jessica Osborne; step-great-grandchildren, Abby and Will Osborne; numerous nieces and nephews; her cherished caretaker and friend, Carolyn Bivines; and her loyal cat, Josie.
A Funeral Service will be held in her honor on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at New Hope Lutheran Church, 1725 Old Tamah Rd, Irmo, SC 29063. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Bush River Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Hope Lutheran Church.
