Myron was born Jan 14, 1957 in Spartanburg, SC. He had an amazing career with Bi-Lo, starting out as a bag boy, working his way to become Regional VP of Operations, where he retired after 30 years of service. Never being one to sit idle, he then founded Jennings Motor Company Inc, where he loved helping customers and friends. He ran this business for the last 20 years, over 15 years of it with his business partner William Thompson, whom he loved like a son.
Myron had been blessed with many gifts and he used them to glorify God and help others. He was an active member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church & the CRC Sunday School Class. He was a remarkable man, a beacon of kindness, strength, and generosity. He shared his warmth with everyone he met, strangers becoming friends under his caring gaze, and he touched countless lives. His selflessness knew no bounds, always willing to help anyone in need.
He had the unique ability to make people feel valued, special, and cherished. He blessed others with a giving & generous heart, and his legacy of compassion and love will forever be remembered. Myron always loved big, and his sense of humor will be missed by those who knew him.
While there are many things Myron loved: his favorites were his family, travel, and cooking. He was fortunate to have been able to travel to wonderful destinations around the world, most recently a trip to Italy just a few weeks before his passing. Myron loved to cook for his family and friends. All were welcome at his house, where he would spend hours using his culinary skills to prepare delicious meals to feed those that he loved. He loved his family most of all though. His loving wife of 49 years, Janice, their only daughter Ashley, her husband Bryan, and their 3 grandchildren Madison, Blake, and Garrett. They were his world, and anyone that was around him for any period of time would quickly learn and know how much he dearly loved his family.
Myron was preceded in heaven by his parents, James Earl Jennings and Margaret “Lucille” Duncan Jennings. He is survived by his wife Janice C. Jennings, daughter Ashley Jennings Kolb (Bryan); grandchildren Madison Grace Kolb, Blake William Kolb, and Garrett Reid Kolb; his brothers James Michael Jennings (Kay) and Mitchell Brent Jennings (Laura); his sister-in-law Sheila C Collins (Donnie), nieces and nephews: Leanna B Patrick (Rob), Christopher “Adam” Jennings, Tracy J. Addy (Jimmy), “JJ” Jennings (Evie), Jason Carter (Selena) and many great nieces and nephews.
Myron lived by the scripture often quoted to him by his late Sunday School teacher, Paula Wilson: “To whom much is given, much will be expected” (Luke 12:48). If you were around Myron, even for just a moment, you would see that he lived his life by this verse.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at 701 Whaley.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/donate). Myron donated to this charity without fail every year, and a donation to them would be a wonderful way to honor his memory.
