Mary Evelyn Wade

COLUMBIA - Mary Evelyn (Mimi) Wade, 65, loved and cherished by all that she met, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 9, 2023, with her husband and two daughters by her side. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia. She was the daughter of Alfred Gordon Oltman Jr. and Mary Evelyn Oltman.

She is survived by her husband John Wade and their two beautiful girls who they were beyond proud of Emily Wade Domis (Chad, daughter -Maddie), and Catie Wade Ellisor (Neil). Mimi loved her son-in-laws like they were her own. She is also survived by her twin brother, Gordon Oltman III (Mindy) their two daughters Ali Fisher (Alex), Summer Gardiner (Chris), sister Julie Goettee (Jack) and their two sons Matt Goettee (Keeley) and Scott Goettee (Anna), and sister Annette Jordan (Jimmy) and their children Ryan Jordan (Izzy) and Ashley Jordan as well as her uncle Paul Green (Ann).

She was married for 42 years to the love of her life John Wade. Mimi loved to love. She cherished her family and friendships. She saw the good in everyone. Mimi held many titles throughout her life; Wife, mommy, stay at home mom, Yaya, sister, mother in law, aunt, best friend and countless others. Mimi was a proud grandma (Yaya) to her granddaughter Maddie Domis.

Upon Mimi’s wishes of being cremated, a memorial service date will be determined by the family in the following weeks. The family will notify loved ones and friends in the near future when visitation/celebration of life will be scheduled. The family appreciates your understanding, as this was a sudden and tragic event.

A visitation will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Stroke Association or The American Heart Association in Mimi’s honor.
