Linda Kennedy Sharpe, 78, of Columbia, South Carolina, passed away on September 20, 2024, surrounded by family and friends. Born on July 8, 1946, in Utica, New York, Linda was a cherished member of the community and a loving figure in the lives of her family and friends.
A 1964 graduate of Lower Richland High School, Linda held her alma mater in great esteem throughout her life. She retired from Lexington-Richland District Five after many years of service. Linda's commitment to service was evident through her dedicated volunteer work at the C.M. Tucker Nursing Care Center, where she served veterans with care and devotion. Linda’s patriotism was further expressed through her involvement with the Patriot Guard Riders and the American Legion Post 6 Riders, demonstrating her deep respect and support for military personnel and veterans.
“Lulu” was known for her spunky personality. She loved daisies, pink hair, cowboy boots, giant motorcycle goggles, fireball shots, coffee, her dogs, friends and family. Her favorite role in life was being “BeeBee” to her grandchildren. She was a free spirit in all ways and encouraged everyone to “eat the cake” and “do what makes your heart happy”. An avid lover of animals, Linda's compassion knew no bounds, a trait that endeared her to all living creatures.
Family was the cornerstone of Linda's life. She is survived by her loving husband, Charles (Charlie) Sharpe; her third sister, Norma Kirkland Farley (John); her daughter, Denise Stewart (Jerry); her son, AJ Morganelli; her stepson, Charles (Chuck) Sharpe, Jr.; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Kennedy Stewart, Brandon Sharpe, Matthew Sharpe (Sydney), Alex Willard (Ben Gould); great-granddaughter, Sophie Rose Sharpe; and cherished family friend, Marge Whitehead. Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Potter Kennedy; father, CSM Charles Kennedy, US Army, Retired; and sister, Barbara Kennedy Davis.
A service to honor Linda's life will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Legion Riders Post 6, 200 Pickens St., Columbia SC 29205 or the Humane Society of Columbia at www.humanesc.org/donate, reflecting her love for veterans and animals. Linda’s legacy of kindness, patriotism, and devotion will be remembered by all who knew her.
