Joshua, wonderful son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, grandson, nephew and friend, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2019. Born in Columbia, he was the youngest child of Wayne and Melinda Suber Eargle. Also surviving Joshua are his brother, Brandon Eargle (Anna-Marie Richardson); his sister, Dr. Carly Eargle Chapman (Ashton); niece, Amelia Quinn Chapman; maternal grandfather, Dr. James Suber, Jr.; aunts, Veda Bennett (Steve), Linda Crain, Mary Graham; uncle, James Suber III (Yvette); and many loving cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Oscar Lawrence Eargle, Jr. Betty Johnson Eargle and maternal grandmother, Jeri Mathis Suber.
Joshua loved the study of religion and a good, healthy debate about too. He was funny, smart, caring, and compassionate and was loved by so many. His brother and sister were his best friends. He adored his only niece and she adored him, Uncle Dosh. He was a 2014 graduate of Chapin High School and was active in chorus. He had a beautiful voice and loved to sing, especially with his family and along with his Troye Sivan CD. Joshua graduated Magna Cum Laude from Presbyterian College receiving his degree in religion and was one year away from completing his Masters of Divinity at Hartford Seminary School, Hartford, CT. His ultimate goal was furthering his education and/or going directly into counseling and chaplaincy.
A love of reading, Joshua was known to have only books on his birthday and Christmas lists. He could spend hours on the couch reading and many times would get ten books and have them read in a week.
Joshua always rallied around those in need. He was definitely a defender of the underdog. Josh had only a couple of girlfriends in his life, but he was a flirtatious young man who had his eyes set on older women. His connection with them was more on an intellectual basis and he just was attracted to them. Josh gave blood religiously every month. He was so proud that he had donated over a gallon of blood in the short time he had been donating. Joshua wanted to help people and was an organ donor who would have been so disappointed that he was unable to donate his organs upon his passing.
Joshua gave selflessly of his time and attention to help anyone yet he was humble. He attended interfaith meetings where he would go to dinners with other members of all different faiths to learn and listen. He had strong beliefs against animal cruelty. He was a vegetarian and insisted on buying only animal cruelty free products. Josh was an advocate for the environment using metal straws and recycled.
Everyone loved Joshua. He had no enemies, only friends. Our hearts are broken. We love him dearly and, although he will be in our memories always, he will be missed from our lives forever.
