Jessica was born on June 23, 1993 and died September 15, 2024 at the age of 31. She was the daughter of Laura Thompson Meetze (Mommy) and William “Billy” Gardner. Jessica was blessed to have Paul Meetze (Daddy) enter her life when she was five years old. She attended the School for the Blind and graduated from Dutch Fork High School, before attending Irmo Adult Education and college at Columbia International University.
Although she was born legally blind and faced a myriad of health issues throughout her life, her challenges did not define her. She loved hard. Her favorite color was silver. She cheered on her Clemson Tigers (and was a closet Gamecock fan) and the Chicago Bears. She loved helping her Aunt Anita on the farm and spending time with both of her Grandmothers and family. She loved fishing, watching ball games or just hanging out. She also loved being a part of the HOG group and volunteering with Carolina Sunshine for Children every chance she got.
Jess’ final act of kindness here on Earth was giving the gift of life through organ donation. Through this generous decision, she has touched countless others as the family members, friends, and communities of the three people who are receiving her heart, liver, and kidneys will be forever impacted by their improved quality of life, made possible through these selfless gifts.
Jessica is survived by her parents: Laura and Paul Meetze, William “Billy” Gardner. Her brother and sister-in-law: Josh and Ami Meetze. Her Grandparents: Linda and Tom Russell, Brenda Love, and Charles and Linda Gardner. Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Jessica was predeceased by Grandfathers, Charles Thompson, Quinton Meetze; Grandmother, Voncille Meetze; and her favorite, Uncle Mark.
Visitation will be at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, on Thursday, September 19, 2024 from 6 pm – 8 pm.
Funeral will be held at Salem United Methodist Church on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 3:00 pm. Pallbearers will be Josh Meetze, Ryan Meetze, Dylan Meetze, Garrett Ellis, Cody Russell, and Blaine Cook. Honorary Pallbearer will be Ami Meetze.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Carolina Sunshine for Children or Salem United Methodist Church.
