Janet Johnson Dailey of Irmo, SC, age, 77 died January 3, 2021, in Columbia, SC. She was born in Petersburg, Virginia on November 24, 1943, daughter of Earl C. Johnson and Edith S. Johnson. She was a 1962 graduate of Colonial Heights High School and attended Chowan University, Virginia Commonwealth University and graduated from The Pan American School.
While residing in Colonial Heights she served as Secretary for the Colonial Heights Historical Society and was active with the Fort Clifton Arts, Crafts and Music Festival for many years. She was appointed to the Colonial Heights Historical Commission.
Ms. Dailey was the Administrative Assistant for West End Orthopedic Clinic, now Ortho Virginia in Richmond and retired in 2006 after 26 years of service. She was the owner of “Icing on the Cake” by Janet Dailey and created hundreds of wedding cakes for brides in Virginia. She was a former member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Chancel choir.
After moving to Irmo, South Carolina in 2006 she became an active member of Union United Methodist Church where she served on the Worship Committee, was a member of the Joy Sunday School class, a member of the choir and was active with the “Banner Babes”. She also served as a volunteer at Leeza’s Care Connection in Irmo. She traveled extensively with friends and always looked forward to the next travel adventure. Her love of flowers and plants was apparent in her yard. She had many passions in life but none more important than her family. She was a caregiver to many family members over the years.
Janet was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and a wonderful friend to many. She is survived by her daughter Mary Katherine, Thomas (husband), Grandchildren Ann-Claire, William Connor, David Harrison, Henry Grant and Hailey whom she adored. She is also survived by aunts and cousins
A Memorial Service will be held at Union United Methodist Church on Monday, January 11, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. At a later date, a graveside service will be planned in Virginia for interment.
