COLUMBIA - James “Cliff” Cordell Clifford, 77, joined his savior, Jesus, in heaven on Sunday, August 19, 2018. He was born on November 8, 1940 in Gridley, CA. Cliff is the son of the late William and Esty Clifford.
Cliff was involved in many activities and organizations. He was a member of the Eau Claire Masonic Lodge #344, Columbia York Rite Bodies, National Sojourners, Knight’s Templar Eye Foundation, and a member of the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church where he sang in the choir. In his younger years, he was a skydiver. Cliff loved books about history. He served in the US Army for 28 years, retiring as a Master Sargeant. Cliff was a loving husband and father.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Katie Marie Clifford; brother, Bruce Clifford (Janet); sister, Glenda Hawthorne (Paul); sons and daughters, James Clifford (Terrie), Dr. Karen James (David), Keith Clifford, and Jillian Van Horn (Brett); stepson, Joseph Brazell; stepdaughter, Shirley Brazell; and 3 grandchildren, Eleanor James, Nichole Clifford, and James Clifford.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church, 6952 St. Andrews Rd, Columbia, SC 29212, with a burial to follow in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, 7600 Woodrow St., Irmo, SC 29063.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church.
